Season 2/ Episode 21: When Your Age Gets in the Way
In All Seriousness
Recognize Your Limitations
In this week’s episode, Jill and Tony discuss their realization that they may be too old to engage in activities that were once no problem to do.
Jill told listeners that when they discover something they can no longer do, accept it and find something to replace that activity.
Tony advised listeners to keep doing all that they can and enjoy life.
Both have other suggestions:
- Don’t limit yourself unless it’s necessary
- Focus on the “can do’s” in your life, instead of the “can’ts”
- Be open to trying new things as you age
How old were you when you realized that age was stopping you from doing something? What have you tried doing now that you’re older? Leave your answers in the comments section.
How about instead of “I’m too old for this,” we go with “I’m old enough to know better.” For instance—I’m old enough to know that there are consequences to what I say and also old enough to know that sometimes it’s worth it. Haha—just sayin’. There are advantages to being old enough to know better as in I’m old enough to put any aspirations of wearing a bikini behind me. Such a relief.
We like that, Mary. Yes, we are old enough to know better than to do numerous things, aren’t we? We especially like the “old enough to know that sometimes it’s worth it” part.
